About Me

I love playing and teaching guitar. I’ve spent countless hours practicing to reach a greater ability, knowledge, and connection to the music that I love. Sharing what I know with students and helping them in their journey to learn guitar easier and faster than I did is rewarding. I’ve been playing now for over 20 years and have over 10 years of teaching experience. My primary areas of knowledge include fingerstyle guitar technique, music theory, and songwriting.
My musical journey started in middle school when I got my first guitar. I played in worship, rock, and pop bands during high school and college. I earned two bachelor’s degrees in philosophy and psychology from New Mexico State University, and a master’s degree in philosophy from Brandeis University. While getting my degrees I completed coursework at Berklee College of Music, which helped me solidify my understanding of music theory. After graduation I became a full-time guitar instructor and performer, teaching students of all ages in my hometown of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and playing gigs there and in Albuquerque, NM and El Paso, Texas.
Over the years I have developed methods of guitar instruction that make learning as fun, engaging, and fast as possible. I am myself forever a student of music and will be continually posting my recordings here on my website and social media.
